Notice the script cuts, the pace, the light, the sound, and how actors move. Say what each choice did to the room, not only that you liked it. Live work carries risk, and that risk is part of the deal. The crowd laughs or gasps as one. A wobble gets covered in front of you, and the performers feed off the noise you make. **Example.** After a gig you might write: the drums dropped out in the second song, so the crowd leaned in, then the singer whispered the last line and the room went still. That stillness is your evidence that the quiet choice worked. **Tip.** Judge the work apart from the people. A weak play can hold fine acting, and a star can coast through a strong script.
