# AI in Daily Life

Recognise AI uses such as face unlock, learned word prediction, video recommendations, photo sorting and voice assistants; distinguish learned patterns from a fixed sensor rule

## Ready when they can

- Identify at least five examples of AI in their daily life
- Explain that these technologies use patterns and data, not magic or real thinking
- Describe one way AI makes their life easier and one time it might not work perfectly

## Lesson: Spotting AI Around You

AI hides inside many things you use each day. It is in phones that learn faces, auto-correct, video picks, photo sorting, and smart speakers that talk back. A smart speaker listens and talks back. Some auto-correct tools learned from lots of writing. They guess the word you meant, and that saves time.

This shop door opens by itself. It has a small sensor. A sensor is a tiny watcher that sees you are near. The sensor uses one fixed rule. Open when someone is near. The door senses you and responds, so in that way it is smart. But it follows one fixed rule with no AI.

*(drawing: All five of these use AI to help you.)*

**Example.** Mia unlocks her phone with her face. She does not type a password. The phone learned her face using AI.

A video app looks at what you watched before. It finds patterns in those shows. Then it guesses what you might like next. Guessing from patterns is AI.

AI does not think or feel like you do. It finds patterns in lots of data. A phone seems to know you, but it only uses patterns and data. That is not real thinking.

AI can guess wrong sometimes. A smart speaker once heard the word joke and played music instead. It guessed from sounds only and missed what was asked.

**Recap.** AI is all around you, quietly using patterns, not magic, to help with daily things.
