## Ready when they can

- State an opinion and give a reason (e.g. 'I think ... because ...')
- Participate in a class presentation or performance with confidence
- Explain thinking when answering a question rather than just giving a one-word answer

## Lesson: Sharing Your Opinion and Why

An opinion is what you think about something, like which game is fun. It is not right or wrong. When you share it, tell why. Try saying, 'I think... because...'

*(drawing: Say what you think, then because, then your reason.)*

**Example.** Mia says, 'I think blue is best because it feels calm.' She gave her opinion, then her reason.

**Example.** Ben stands up for show and tell. His voice shakes, but he takes a breath and keeps sharing his idea with the class.

**Tip.** Do not just say, 'because I said so.' Tell a real reason, like what you saw or felt.

**Recap.** Share what you think, and always tell why.
