# Joining Words with 'And'

Join words and clauses using the conjunction 'and' to create longer sentences

## Ready when they can

- Combine two simple sentences using 'and' (e.g. 'I like cats and dogs')
- Join two related clauses with 'and' (e.g. 'We went to the park and we played')
- Use 'and' in lists of items within a sentence

## Lesson: Joining Words with And

You can join two short sentences with the word and. It makes one longer sentence from two short ones.

**Example.** Mia says, I see a bus and I see a train. She joined two ideas with and. You can also join three things: pears and plums and cherries.

**Tip.** You can join more than two things too. Say apples and bananas and grapes.
