## Ready when they can

- Select graphics, images, or sound that support and clarify main ideas in a presentation
- Create slides or visual aids that enhance rather than distract from the spoken content
- Integrate multimedia elements smoothly into an oral presentation

## Lesson: Choosing Multimedia for a Presentation

A presentation is more than just talking. You can add pictures, slides, or sound to help your audience understand your main idea. The trick is picking multimedia that supports your point, not just anything that looks fun.

*(drawing: A chart like this can show information faster than saying every number out loud.)*

**Example.** Jordan is presenting about rainforests. Jordan picks a photo of a rainforest canopy and a short audio clip of birds calling, because both help the audience picture and hear what a rainforest is like. Jordan decides not to add a funny cat video, since it has nothing to do with the topic.

**Tip.** Before adding anything, ask: does this picture, slide, or sound make my idea clearer? If not, leave it out. Keep slides simple, a few words and one image work best, and keep talking to your audience while you show them, so the multimedia flows with your voice instead of interrupting it.

**Recap.** Good multimedia supports your main idea instead of distracting from it, and it flows smoothly with what you say.
