Archaeologists dig up old things buried in the sand. They study these objects to learn about people who lived long ago. Old cups, paintings, and jewels can tell a story.

**Example.** Howard Carter searched for a hidden tomb for many years. In 1922, he finally found stone steps in the sand. Behind a sealed door was Tutankhamun's tomb, packed with gold.
