## Lesson: Why the past keeps changing

Each age retells the past to fit its own debates. That study bears a name: historiography. Schools rise and fall as fresh tools and fresh debates make old tales feel thin.

**Example.** Track one event across three eras of writing and compare how each telling differs. The differences show what each era prized most. The way the story shifts over time becomes a fact about the writers, not just about the event.
