## Lesson: Roman soldiers and builders

Roman soldiers marched in long lines. They marched across a huge empire. They carried swords, shields, and heavy packs. The Roman army was strong and well trained.

*(drawing: Builders stacked stone blocks row by row to build a strong wall.)*

**Example.** Marcus walks on an old Roman road. It is made of flat stones. People still walk on this road today.

**Tip.** Roman builders used strong stone and clever tricks like arches. This helped roads and walls last a very long time.

**Recap.** Roman soldiers marched in a mighty army, and Roman builders built roads and walls that still stand today.
