# Arguing a Case in Another Language

Disagree well in the new language: concede a point, qualify a claim, and press an objection without losing the room. The moves are the same as in a first language, and each one has its own wording here.

## Ready when they can

- Concede a point and then qualify it, in the new language
- Object to a claim using the language's own softening rather than a blunt contradiction
- Hold a position under pressure without dropping into the first language

## Lesson: Disagreeing with grace

Grant a small point, then press your true doubt. Say costs count, yet safety counts more. The grant shows you heard them; the yet clears room for your push.

**Example.** Ask the probe that tests their claim. That sounds fair, but what meets this case. Each probe keeps you in the new tongue with short lines while they must explain.

Blunt no sounds rude in most tongues. Soften with words like perhaps, in a way, or it seems to me. Strike the claim while you spare the speaker.

**Tip.** Under fire, hold your thread with set lines. Take a point, answer in one line, and get back to your path. Or kindly pass and move on. Brief calm beats long flustered talk.

**Recap.** Grant a little, soften the push, probe with questions, and hold your thread to the end.
