# Knowing Where You Are and What to Fix

Judge your own level honestly, skill by skill: what you can do in listening, speaking, reading and writing, and which one is holding the others back. Public level descriptions give the yardstick.

## Ready when they can

- Say what they can and cannot yet do in the language, skill by skill
- Name the weakest of the four skills and give evidence for the judgement
- Choose what to work on next from that judgement rather than from preference

## Lesson: Know Your Level, Fix Your Weakest Skill

Judge your level skill by skill: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Name what you can do in each, and name what still fails.

**Example.** Lena hears films fine but freezes when she must speak. Her listening leads, her speaking lags, and the gap shows each time she opens her mouth.

Crown the weakest skill with proof, not feeling. If speaking lags, note where: ordering food, or joining fast talk. Proof might be three failed orders in a row.

**Tip.** Practise from the judgement, not from taste. If speaking lags, speak daily, even though reading feels nicer. Be gentle with yourself, but stay honest.

**Recap.** Name each skill, crown the weakest with proof, and train that one next.
