# Practising a Language Week by Week

A language grows on regular contact, not on one long session before a test. Plan short contact on most days, cover all four skills across a week, and go back over old material on purpose.

## Ready when they can

- Keep a short practice slot on most days across several weeks
- Include listening and speaking in the week, not only written exercises
- Revisit material from earlier weeks instead of only moving forward

## Lesson: A Little Language Every Day

A short slot on most days beats one long cram before a test. Your brain keeps more when it meets the language often.

Cover all four skills across the week: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Reading and writing alone will not train your ears or your mouth.

**Example.** Lena learns words for ten minutes each evening, says them aloud, and ticks each day off her plan. On Sunday she replays the old words before adding new ones.

**Tip.** Write down fixed days and times and keep them short. Start each slot by going back over old material first.

**Recap.** Practise a little on most days, use all four skills, and revisit old material before adding more.
