# Working Through the Plateau

Progress slows once you can get by, and errors nobody corrects settle in for good. Ask for correction, work on the mistake you keep making, and pick material a little beyond comfortable.

## Ready when they can

- Name one error they repeat and show a plan for it
- Ask a speaker for correction and use what comes back
- Choose material that is slightly too hard on purpose

## Lesson: Pushing past the plateau

A plateau means your old routine stopped working, not that you stopped learning. You can get by, so nothing forces you to grow, and uncorrected errors settle in for good. The fix is deliberate change: harder input, sharper targets, and honest tracking.

**Example.** Name the one error you keep making and attack only that for a week. Ask a speaker to correct just that point, then use each fix in your very next sentence. One weakness removed can restart progress across the board.

Pick material slightly too hard on purpose and wrestle with it daily. Rotate books, shows, and chats so no skill sits idle for weeks. When study feels stale, swap the material before you drop the goal: a film night can rescue a textbook plan.

**Tip.** Self discipline is design, not willpower. Fix one daily slot, lay out materials the night before, and remove the biggest distraction first. Ten focused minutes daily beats a heroic monthly session. Track your streak where you can see it and reward small wins.

**Recap.** Name one error, beg correction for it, stretch with harder material, and guard a small daily streak.
