# Jobs People Do

Different kinds of work people do; that people earn money by working; how jobs help the community; linking personal interests to possible jobs

## Ready when they can

- Name at least five different jobs and describe what each person does
- Explain that people get paid money for the work they do
- Connect a personal interest to a job (e.g. 'I like animals so I could be a vet')

## Lesson: Jobs People Do

A job is work a person does. People do many different jobs. Doctors, teachers, and farmers all have jobs. When people work, they earn money. That money helps them buy things they need.

**Example.** Meet five people with jobs. A teacher helps kids learn new things. A doctor helps people who feel sick. A farmer grows food like corn and apples. A firefighter puts out fires to keep us safe. A baker makes bread and yummy treats.

**Tip.** Think about what you like to do. If you like animals, you could be a vet. If you like to build things, you could be a builder. Your interests can point to a fun job.
