# Looking After Money

Keeping money safe; not losing coins or notes; understanding that money has real value and should be treated carefully; basic money responsibility

## Ready when they can

- Describe at least two ways to keep money safe (purse, wallet, money box, giving to a grown-up)
- Explain why it matters if you lose money
- Show that they treat real coins and notes carefully rather than leaving them lying around

## Lesson: Looking After Money

Money is real. It can buy things you like. If you lose it, it is gone.

**Example.** Ben got two coins from his gran. He put them straight into his money box. Now they are safe.

**Tip.** Keep money safe. Use a purse, a wallet, or a money box. You can also give it to a grown-up to hold.

If you drop money, it can get lost. Someone else might pick it up. Then you cannot buy what you wanted.
