## Ready when they can

- Deliver a 1-2 minute pitch for a business idea covering: what it is, who it helps, and why it's good
- Answer at least two questions about their idea from an audience
- Explain why being able to explain your idea clearly matters for getting support

## Lesson: Pitching an Idea

You already know how to plan your idea and think about who it's for. A pitch is how you say that idea out loud, so other people want to support it too. A good pitch is short and covers three things: what your idea is, who it helps, and why it's good.

*(drawing: Every pitch touches these three parts, in this order: what it is, who it helps, and why it's good.)*

**Example.** Zara wants to start a dog-walking business. Here's her pitch: 'My idea is dog walking. It helps busy neighbors whose dogs need exercise. It's good because I can walk them right after school, so no one has to rush home.' In under a minute, she covered all three parts.

**Tip.** Practice your pitch out loud before you share it. Speak slowly, look at your listener, and smile. A calm, clear voice sounds more convincing than a fast, nervous one.

**Tip.** If someone asks a question you don't expect, that's normal. Say, 'That's a good question, let me think,' then give your best answer. Staying calm shows you believe in your idea.

**Recap.** A strong pitch is short, covers what it is, who it helps, and why it's good, and you stay calm when questions come.
