A current account turns money into a balance you check on a screen, which is easier to spend and harder to feel. Knowing what each part of the app is telling you is the first defence.

## Lesson: Your First Bank Account and Card

A current account turns your money into numbers on a screen. The balance is not always yours to spend, since pending payments already claim part of it.

**Example.** Mia sees 200 in her account, but a 60 ticket bill waits as pending. Her true spending money is 140, and the app shows both lines.

A direct debit pulls bills out by itself each month, such as power or internet. A one-off card payment happens once and never repeats. Learn which is which before money moves.

**Tip.** Lost card or strange payment: freeze the card in the app and tell the bank at once. Fast hands lose less money.
