# Comparing durations

Use comparative language for time: quicker, slower, earlier, later

## Ready when they can

- Compare two events and say which was quicker/slower
- Use 'earlier' and 'later' correctly to describe daily events
- Solve practical problems like 'Who finished first?'

## Lesson: Quicker, slower, earlier, later

Some things happen fast. Some things take longer. Quicker means less time. Slower means more time.

*(drawing: Brushing teeth took 2 minutes. The bath took 10 minutes. The bath was slower.)*

**Example.** Mia ran to the tree in 3 seconds. Sam ran in 6 seconds. Mia was quicker because she took less time.

**Tip.** Earlier means it happened first. Later means it happened after. Breakfast is earlier than dinner.
