## Ready when they can

- Count from 47 to 120 without errors
- Read the numeral 108 correctly
- Write the numeral for one hundred and fifteen

## Lesson: Reading and writing numbers to 120

You already know how to count to 100. Numbers past 100 work the same way. After 100, just keep counting: 101, 102, 103, all the way to 120.

*(drawing: Watch the numbers cross 100: 98, 99, 100, 101, and on up to 120.)*

**Example.** Ravi reads the numeral 108. He sees 1 hundred, 0 tens, and 8 ones, so he says one hundred and eight.

**Tip.** To read one of these numbers, say hundred first, then the last two digits like you already know them. 115 is one hundred and fifteen.

**Tip.** To write these numbers, use 3 digits. The first digit is always 1, because every number here is past 100 but not yet 200.

**Recap.** After 100, keep counting the same way: 101, 102, 103, all the way up to 120.
