Ask for help when they need it — from a friend, teacher, or family member — and understand that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness

Subject: Personal & Social Development · Area: Friendship & Cooperation · Ages 5 to 7

## Ready when they can

- Approach an appropriate person and ask for help clearly
- Identify who to go to for different kinds of help (academic, emotional, practical)
- Explain why asking for help is sensible rather than something to be embarrassed about

## Lesson: Asking for Help

Everyone gets stuck sometimes. That is normal for everyone. You might not understand something. You might feel worried. Or you might need help with a job. Asking for help is smart. It is not weak.

*(drawing: Four steps: get stuck, pick a helper, ask clearly, say thanks.)*

**Example.** Mia could not solve a puzzle. She felt annoyed at first. Then she asked her teacher for help. Her teacher showed her one small step. Mia solved the puzzle herself after that.

**Tip.** Pick the right helper for the job. Ask a teacher about schoolwork. Ask a friend or family member about feelings. Ask a grown-up nearby for a practical problem.

**Recap.** Asking for help is always a smart, brave choice.
