## Ready when they can

- Explain why repeated contact in the same place matters more than any single meeting
- Name two ways to create that repetition when it does not happen by itself
- Say what a loose acquaintance is good for that a close friend is not

## Lesson: Build your circle on purpose

School supplies friends by accident, and after it nobody does. Adult friendship needs repeated unplanned contact, arranged on purpose. Trust builds through small repeated moments in the same place. One big meeting never beats ten small ones.

Create repetition you control. Join a weekly group or sit in the same spot. Say yes to first invitations and sit with someone new at meals. Weekly repetition turns faces into friends without any grand effort. Then do the part most people skip and follow up the next day.

**Example.** Joining an existing group feels awkward since everyone knows the jokes. Learn the vibe first: who organises, what they laugh at, how they spend time. Join one activity fully instead of hovering at five. Contribute something small, like bringing snacks or suggesting a plan, and the group starts counting you in.

**Tip.** Know what each tie is for. Close friends comfort you, while loose acquaintances bring new ideas, news, and introductions. Be the friend you keep wishing you had. Listen more than you talk, keep small promises, show up when you say you will, and give space without sulking.

**Recap.** Show up weekly in the same place, join one thing fully, and follow up the next day.
