Some children have lots of toys and space at home. Others don't have much money, or live with just one parent, or with grandparents. Some children can run and play easily. Others use a wheelchair, or need extra help to see or hear. None of these differences make a person less fun to know. **Example.** A new boy named Amir joined Mia's class. He had just moved from another country and didn't know much English yet. At first, some kids laughed when he said words wrong. Mia didn't laugh. She sat next to him at lunch and pointed at things, teaching him their names in English. Soon Amir was smiling and learning fast. **Example.** Priya's family didn't have much money for a big birthday party. When kids asked why she never had one, Priya felt embarrassed. Her friend Jaden noticed. He said, 'That's okay, we can celebrate at the park for free, just us.' Jaden didn't judge her. Get curious about their story first, then find one small, kind thing to do.)* **Tip.** You can't always see what is hard in someone's life. If someone seems different, get curious instead of judging. Ask yourself: what might their day be like?
