## Ready when they can

- Describe a time they made a mistake and what they learned from it
- Respond to a mistake by trying again rather than giving up
- Explain why mistakes help people learn

## Lesson: Mistakes Help You Learn

Everyone makes mistakes. Even grown-ups make mistakes every day. Mistakes are not bad. They help you learn something new.

**Example.** Mia tries to tie her shoes. She gets it wrong three times. On her fourth try, she gets it right.

*(drawing: Mia tried four times to tie her shoes. The first three tries showed her what to fix. Try 4 worked.)*

**Tip.** When you make a mistake, stop and breathe. Then try again. You get better each time you try.

**Tip.** Never say 'I can't do it.' Say 'I can't do it yet.' That one word changes everything.

**Recap.** Mistakes are simply steps that help you learn and grow.
