## Lesson: Spotting Your Own Patterns

You already know how to spot a pattern, like red, blue, red, blue. You can spot patterns in yourself too. Maybe you always feel grumpy when you're tired. Maybe you feel small when someone leaves you out. Maybe your stomach flips when everyone looks at you at once. These are patterns in how you react.

*(drawing: Every time Sam feels tired, grumpy comes right after. What do you think comes next?)*

**Example.** Jamal notices that every time his class picks partners fast, his stomach flips and he goes quiet. That happened last week, and the week before too. Jamal now knows: being picked last makes him go quiet. That's his pattern.

**Tip.** To find your own pattern, think back. Ask yourself: has this happened before, and did I feel this way then too? Naming your pattern won't stop the feeling, but it helps you see it coming next time.

**Recap.** Your reactions often follow a pattern, and noticing it helps you see what's coming next.
