## Ready when they can

- Use 'cooperate' and 'compromise' correctly — e.g. 'We cooperated by taking turns choosing the game'
- Explain what 'active listening' means and demonstrate it: facing the speaker, not interrupting, responding to what was said
- Use 'share', 'take turns', and 'include' to describe how they work with others in a group activity

## Lesson: Words for working together

When you work with a friend, you use special words. Cooperate means you work together. Share means you both get to use something.

Take turns means you wait, then it becomes your turn. Include means you let everyone join in, even someone new.

**Example.** Mia and Ben both wanted the red crayon. They cooperated. Ben used it first, then passed it to Mia. That is taking turns.

*(drawing: One crayon, two friends. Ben colors, then he passes it, then Mia colors. That is taking turns, and that is how friends cooperate.)*

Active listening means you look at the speaker. You do not interrupt. You listen, then say back what you heard.

**Tip.** You can disagree without being mean. Try saying, I see it differently. That is disagreeing kindly.

**Recap.** Cooperate, share, and include: these words help friends work together.
