## Ready when they can

- Contribute at least one idea during a group discussion
- Listen to and build on another group member's idea
- Complete their assigned part of a group task on time

## Lesson: Doing your part in a group

You have practised taking turns and sharing. In a group project, share ideas when it is your turn. Listen while others speak. Follow the group's agreed rule. If the rule is to raise your hand, wait to be invited before speaking.

**Example.** Mia, Jay and Tess make a poster. Mia writes the title and adds a border. Jay draws the planets and labels them. Tess writes facts and checks them. Each has two jobs. The poster needs everyone's work, not only a leader's work.

*(drawing: The chart counts jobs. It does not show how long each person's work takes.)*

Listen until the other person finishes. To build on an idea, add something linked to it. If someone suggests planets, you could suggest labels for them. Repeating an idea does not add a new detail. You can also disagree kindly and explain your reason.

Agree on jobs and when each part is needed. Different jobs can take different amounts of time. A fair plan may include help or a change of jobs. Finish your part by the agreed time if you can. If you get stuck, tell the group or ask an adult. A required part still needs finishing before the whole project is ready.

To read a job chart, find the person's name. Read that bar's value to find the number of jobs. A taller bar means more jobs. It does not prove there is more work, since jobs can differ.

**Recap.** Take turns sharing ideas, listen and add linked details, and agree on jobs and finish times. Ask for help when your part is difficult.
