# Simple tests and experiments

Perform simple tests and use observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions

## Ready when they can

- Carry out a simple test with one thing changing at a time
- Observe what happens and describe the result
- Use the result to suggest an answer to the original question

## Lesson: Testing to find answers

Sometimes you have a question. You can do a test to find out. In a fair test, you change one thing. You keep everything else the same.

*(drawing: Towel B soaked up more water than towel A.)*

**Example.** Mia tests two paper towels. She drips the same water on each one. She watches and sees towel B soaks up more. Now she can answer her question: towel B works best.

**Tip.** Change only one thing at a time. If you change two things, you cannot tell why.
