# Storm Safety

Know basic storm safety: during thunder and lightning, go indoors or into a car, stay away from trees and water; understand that storms can be frightening but there are ways to stay safe

## Lesson: Storm Safety

Storms bring thunder and lightning. Thunder is loud. Lightning is a bright flash. Storms can feel scary, but you can stay safe.

**Example.** Zoe is playing outside. She hears a loud boom of thunder. Zoe stops and runs inside right away. She stays inside until the storm ends.

**Tip.** Stay away from trees and water in a storm. Lightning can strike tall trees. It can travel through water too.
