## Lesson: Types of Weather

Weather is what the sky and air are like. It can change from morning to night. Sunny means the sun shines and the sky is blue. Rainy means water drops fall from the clouds. Windy means the air moves fast. It can blow your hat off. Snowy means white flakes drift down. They feel cold. Cloudy means clouds cover the sky. Foggy means a low cloud sits on the ground. Things far away look hidden. Stormy means thunder booms and lightning flashes.

*(drawing: This chart shows how many days had each weather type this month.)*

**Example.** Today, Mia looks out her window. The sky is gray and full of clouds. Small drops of rain hit the glass. Mia says it is cloudy and rainy today.

**Tip.** If you are not sure, look at the sky first. Check for clouds, rain, snow, or wind before you decide. Weather pictures help too. A sun means sunny, and a cloud with drops means rainy.

**Recap.** Weather changes every day: sunny, rainy, windy, snowy, cloudy, foggy, or stormy.
