About LightMySky
A learning memory for every learner.
LightMySky is a free place to learn, built around one idea: learning has an order. A topic only makes sense once the topics underneath it do, and knowing which ones those are is most of the work. So the library is a graph, not a list. It holds 1,739 topics across 16 subjects for ages 4 to 24, wired together by 3,581 prerequisite links.
Every topic is a star. It lights up when a learner shows they know it, and dims slowly afterwards, because memory does that. What has faded comes back before it is gone, and anything built on a missing piece waits until that piece is in place. The result is a sky that shows what a learner knows, what is fading, and what is ready to be learned next.
What is inside
Each topic carries a lesson in plain language, drawn scenes rather than walls of text, a video where a good one exists, and practice questions that show their working step by step. Some topics also carry a hands-on lab: a small interactive thing to fiddle with, because some ideas land through the hands before the words. Nothing is behind a card, and most of it is readable without an account.
Who it is for
Learners of any age, and the parents, tutors and teachers who follow them. Because topics are placed by what they need rather than by school year, a learner who is ahead in maths and behind in reading is a normal case, not an exception. Adults can follow more than one learner, and a tutor can be given access to the learners they teach.
Where the material comes from
The taxonomy, meaning the topics themselves and the prerequisite links between them, comes from the open Marble Skill Taxonomy: structure under ODbL, text under CC BY-SA 4.0. Lessons, practice questions and worked solutions are written by LightMySky. Topics are mapped to 7 curriculum frameworks, including the England national curriculum, Common Core and NGSS, so a school topic can be found by the code a teacher knows it by. Quoting any of it is welcome, with a link back to the page it came from.
For agents and AI assistants
The catalog is published for machines as well as people: /agent-instructions.md says when to reach for LightMySky and how to call it, /llms.txt names what exists, /llms-full.txt is the whole library in one file, and the public API answers questions about topics, prerequisites and what a learner should do next. Every public page will return Markdown to a request that asks for it with Accept: text/markdown.
Who makes it
A small independent team, working from Canada. There is no venture money behind this and nothing is sold to advertisers. If something is wrong, missing, or badly explained, we would rather hear it than not: the contact page reaches a person, and the reply comes from one.
