What a learner can do afterwards

  • Can explain Long and short sounds

The lesson

Sounds in music can be long or short. We can say them with rhythm words. We say ta for one longer sound. We say ti-ti for two quick sounds that fit in the same space.

Good to know

One ta takes the same time as ti-ti together. Ti-ti is just two little sounds squeezed into one beat.

Try it together

Clap and say ta, ta, ta, ta. Now clap and say ti-ti, ti-ti, ti-ti, ti-ti. The ti-ti claps are quicker.

Try it together

Say your name in rhythm. Sam is one ta. An-na is ti-ti. Clap it as you say it.

We say ta for one sound and ti-ti for two quick sounds in the same beat.

Watch it

8 questions wait behind this lesson, each with its answer explained. Every answer feeds the sky: stars light as they are learned, and dim when it is time to come back.
