A government is a group of people who help a whole town or country. They are chosen to take care of everyone. They make rules that everyone must follow.
A government keeps you safe. It builds roads, schools, and parks for your family to use. It also pays for firefighters and libraries full of books.
Mia walks to school on a safe street. After school, she plays at the park. If there is ever a fire, firefighters help fast. All of this comes from the government.
Look at a stop sign near your home. It says cars must stop there. The government made that rule to keep everyone safe.
