The lesson
Long ago, families lived by the Nile River in Egypt. Many mothers and fathers worked as farmers. They grew wheat and barley in the fields. Families lived in houses made of mud bricks.
Egyptian families ate bread, fish, fruit, and vegetables. Farmers grew wheat and barley to make bread. The Nile River gave them fish to eat. Fruit and vegetables grew well in the rich soil.
Neferet wakes up in her mud-brick house. She helps her mother bake bread. Then she plays a game with a ball. Her pet cat naps in the sun.
Egyptian children played games and had pets, just like you. But they had no cars, phones, or television. Some things stay the same. Some things change a lot.
Egyptian families farmed, ate bread and fish, and lived much like us.
