Time and Attention Management
Manage their own time and attention effectively — prioritising tasks, minimising distractions, and maintaining focus on important work even when it's not the most exciting option
What a learner can do afterwards
- Create a simple plan for completing multiple tasks in a sensible order
- Identify their own common distractions and describe strategies to manage them
- Complete a less enjoyable task before a more enjoyable one without constant reminders
The lesson
Some days you have more than one thing to do: homework, a chore, and maybe a game you want to play. Managing your time means choosing a smart order for your tasks and sticking with it, even when a task isn't very fun.
Mia has a worksheet due tomorrow and a show she wants to watch. She finishes the worksheet first, without anyone reminding her. Then she watches her show and doesn't have to think about the worksheet at all.
Notice what usually pulls your attention away, like a buzzing phone or a TV in the next room. Move those things out of sight before you start, so your focus has fewer chances to wander.
Make a simple plan, do the less fun task first, and keep distractions out of sight.
