Where Rainforests Are
Know that rainforests are found in a belt around the middle of the Earth — in South America (the Amazon), Central Africa (the Congo), and Southeast Asia — and that they appear on every continent except Antarctica and Europe

The lesson
Rainforests grow in a warm band around the middle of the Earth. The line across the middle is called the Equator. It is hot and wet there all year.
Sara looks at a world map. She finds South America and sees a big rainforest. It is called the Amazon.
Big rainforests also grow in Central Africa and Southeast Asia. The African rainforest is called the Congo. But Europe and Antarctica have no big rainforest.
Look at a world map. Find the line across the middle called the Equator. Big rainforests grow close to that line.
