The lesson
Every story has characters. Characters are the people or animals the story is about.
A story also has a setting. The setting is where and when the story happens.
Think about Little Red Riding Hood. The characters are Red Riding Hood and the wolf. The setting is a path through the woods. First, she walks to Grandma's house. Then the wolf pretends to be Grandma. At the end, a hunter saves them.
When you retell a story, say the characters and the setting. Then tell what happened first, next, and last.
