What a learner can do afterwards

  • Can explain Days of the week

The lesson

The week has seven days. In French they are lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi, and dimanche.

lundi is Monday, mardi is Tuesday, and mercredi is Wednesday. jeudi is Thursday and vendredi is Friday.

samedi is Saturday and dimanche is Sunday. Those are the weekend days. The day right now is aujourd'hui, and the next day is demain, which means tomorrow.

Good to know

jeudi sounds like ZHUH-dee. aujourd'hui sounds like oh-zhoor-DWEE.

Try it together

Say today's day in French, then say demain for the day that comes next.

The French days go lundi to dimanche, aujourd'hui means today, and demain means tomorrow.

Then practise

8 questions wait behind this lesson, each with its answer explained. Every answer feeds the sky: stars light as they are learned, and dim when it is time to come back.
