The discipline that fixes this is order. You attempt first, the model second, and an independent check third. That order keeps the thinking yours while the tool handles routine parts. Models remix patterns from training data, so they sound fluent while being wrong on facts, references and recent events.
You are stuck on an essay paragraph. First you draft it yourself, badly if needed. Then you ask the model to rephrase the tangled lines or quiz you on the topic. Then you verify every claim it made in your textbook. You finish able to write the paragraph alone, which was the whole point.
Never verify a model with the same model. Check with a textbook, run the code or calculation independently, or ask a teacher. Treat every AI claim as an unverified lead. Trace claims to primary sources, check dates and quotes, and notice what is missing. Plagiarism rules did not change when AI arrived. Submitting generated work as your own counts like copying a classmate, so disclose how you used it, follow your school policy, and keep drafts that show your own work.
Make the model quiz you instead of answering for you. Ask it for hints, fresh practice problems, and explanations of your errors. That is the difference between getting unstuck and skipping the work. Getting unstuck means a hint plus you finishing the job. Skipping means copying the output. Only the first leaves you able to do it alone afterwards.
