The lesson
In maths, some words and symbols only work if you get them exactly right. Saying '3/4' as 'three fourths' or 'three quarters' tells people exactly what you mean. Saying 'sort of half' does not.
Mia's sticker costs two pounds and fifty pence. She writes the price as £2.50, not 2.5 or 250. The £ sign and two decimal places show the exact amount.
When you write a maths answer, always include the unit, like 63 square centimetres, and use the exact symbol you mean: = for equal, < for less than, > for greater than, ÷ for divide, and × for multiply.
Precise maths means using exact fraction words, the correct unit, and the right time notation, every time.
