What a learner can do afterwards

  • List at least four qualities of a good friend
  • Identify unfriendly behaviour in a story or real situation
  • Reflect on a time they were a good friend and explain what they did

The lesson

A good friend is kind. A good friend tells the truth. A good friend keeps promises. A good friend lets others join in.

Try it together

Mia sees a new kid sitting alone at lunch. She waves and says, "Come sit with us." That is a kind, friendly thing to do.

A friendly hello has little steps. See someone alone, wave, and ask them to join you.

Some things are not friendly. Being bossy is not friendly. Leaving someone out is not friendly. Saying mean things is not friendly.

Try it together

Jack tells Ben, "You can't play, you're bad at this game." That is not friendly. It leaves Ben out and hurts his feelings.

Good to know

Think about a time you helped a friend or included someone. That is what makes you a good friend too.

Good friends are kind, honest, and include others. Bossy words and mean words are not friendly.
