Ocean Animal Variety
Recognise that the ocean is home to an amazing variety of animals — from tiny seahorses and colourful clownfish to enormous whales and sharks — and that ocean animals come in many shapes and sizes
What a learner can do afterwards
- Name at least five different ocean animals
- Describe differences in size between small and large ocean creatures
- Express curiosity or wonder about the variety of life in the ocean
The lesson
The ocean is a huge, watery world. It holds animals of every size and shape.
Tiny seahorses float near seaweed. Bright clownfish dart around coral. Huge whales and sharks swim by.
Mia visits an aquarium. She sees a clownfish and a seahorse. She also sees a shark, a stingray, and a whale. Five animals in one day!
Next time you see an ocean animal, ask how big it is. Small or large, every animal is amazing in its own way.
The ocean holds many different animals, both tiny and huge.
