Many kinds of animals live in the ocean. Ocean animals come in different sizes and shapes.
Seahorses and clownfish are small. Blue whales and great white sharks are large. Crabs walk on the sandy sea floor. Octopuses can hide among rocks. Sharks and clownfish are fish. Whales, crabs, and octopuses live in the ocean too, but they are not fish.
Mia watches an ocean video. She names a clownfish, a seahorse, a shark, a stingray, and a whale. All five live in the ocean. A crab or an octopus could join her list too.
Curious means wanting to learn more. You can ask a question about an ocean animal, such as 'How big can it grow?' or 'Where does it hide?' Your question can help you find out more.

A whale may look small in a picture because its picture has been made smaller. The whale itself is still much bigger than a seahorse.
A book page can show a whale and a clownfish next to each other. That does not mean they are the same size in the ocean.
Read the words about their sizes as well as looking at the picture.
Meet: Toothed Whales
Dolphins, porpoises, belugas, killer whales, sperm whales, and narwhals belong to a group called toothed whales.
They do not all catch food in the same way. Some grab food with their teeth. Others suck food into their mouths.
Many toothed whales swim in groups called pods. A dolphin is a kind of whale, even though it is smaller than a blue whale.

Watch an ocean video with someone who can help you name the animals. Say each animal's name when you spot it.
Try to name five different kinds. Seeing two clownfish gives you two animals, but only one kind for your list.
