Creating Digital Content
Use technology purposefully to create and manage digital work: write and edit documents, make pictures, slides and simple videos, save files where they can be found again, and choose or combine the right software for the job
What a learner can do afterwards
- Create a piece of digital work with a purpose (e.g., a poster, a slideshow about a topic, a short animation)
- Save work with a sensible name, organise files into folders, and find a piece of work again days later
- Choose and combine software for a task (e.g., take photos, then put them into a slideshow with captions)
The lesson
You can use a tablet or computer to make something new: a poster, a story, a picture, or a slideshow about anything you like. Making digital content takes practice, just like drawing on paper.
Mia makes a poster about her cat for school. She types the title, adds a photo, and writes three facts. When she is done, she saves it as 'Mias_Cat_Poster' inside a folder called School Work, so she can find it again later.
Give your files names that describe what's inside, like 'Space_Poster' instead of 'file1'. Keep related work in the same folder, so future you can find it in seconds.
Make something with a purpose, save it with a clear name in a folder, and you'll be able to find and finish it later.
