Rainforest, desert, grassland and tundra are not scattered at random: they follow bands of temperature and rainfall set by how the atmosphere circulates. Once you know the pattern, you can predict roughly what grows at a given latitude before looking.

Rainforest, desert, grassland, and tundra are not scattered at random. They follow bands of heat and rain around the planet. Tropical forest hugs the wet equator, deserts ring the dry lands near thirty degrees north and south, and forest yields to tundra toward the poles. Learn each biome as a pairing of temperature plus rainfall, and you can guess the vegetation at a latitude before you look.
The bands come from how air moves. Air rises at the equator, drops its rain there, then sinks back down near thirty degrees as dry air. Sinking air means deserts cluster around those latitudes instead of at the hottest equator. Link each band to this loop and the map stops looking random.
Test yourself by matching three biomes to their conditions. Rainforest means warm and soaked all year. Desert means hot and dry. Tundra means cold with little rain. Then hunt the rule breaker: a place where the latitude guess fails. Mountains, ocean currents, and rain shadows can overrule latitude and flip the local climate entirely.
Predict in two moves. First guess the biome from latitude alone. Then ask what local feature could flip it: a mountain lifting wet air, a cold current chilling the coast, or high elevation cooling the tropics. Naming the override turns a memorised map into real understanding.
