The lesson
A small cut or scrape is a tiny hurt on the top of your skin. It might sting a little and show a bit of blood, but it usually heals well with simple care.
First, tell a grown-up. Then, if it is a small one, you can help clean it. Rinse it gently with clean, cool running water to wash away dirt.
Pat the skin dry with a clean cloth or tissue. Do not rub hard, because rubbing can make it hurt more.
A grown-up can help you put on a plaster, also called a bandage, to keep it clean. Change it if it gets wet or dirty.
Practice washing your hands with soap and water for as long as it takes to sing a short song. Clean hands help small hurts stay healthy.
