The lesson

You have learned some helpful things to do for small hurts. It is also important to know which jobs are for kids and which jobs are for grown-ups.

Kids are great helpers. You can stay calm, fetch things like a plaster or a clean cloth, and tell an adult what happened. You can call for help when you need to.

Good to know

Treating a hurt, like deciding what a big cut or a burn needs, is a grown-up's job. Your most important job is to get a grown-up.

Try it together

Think about a small scrape and a burn. For the small scrape you can help rinse it, but for a burn you cool it with water and let the grown-up take over. Both times, you tell an adult.

If you are ever not sure whether a hurt is small or big, treat it as big and get a grown-up. It is always okay to ask for help.
