Skip Counting (4s, 8s, 50s, 100s)
Count from 0 in multiples of 4, 8, 50, and 100
What a learner can do afterwards
- Recite the multiples of 4 from 0 to at least 48
- Recite the multiples of 8 from 0 to at least 96
- Count in steps of 50 and 100 from 0 to 1000
The lesson
You already know how to count by 2s: 2, 4, 6, 8. Skip counting just means counting in equal jumps, and today your jumps get bigger. You will count by 4s, 8s, 50s, and 100s.
Zara has 3 bags of 8 blocks each. She skip counts by 8s to find the total: 8, 16, 24. She has 24 blocks in all.
Counting by 50s works like counting by 100s, but each jump is only half as big: 50, 100, 150, 200, 250. However big the jump is, always add the same number every time.
Skip counting means adding the same jump size every time, whether that jump is 4, 8, 50, or 100.

8 questions wait behind this lesson, each with its answer explained. Every answer feeds the sky: stars light as they are learned, and dim when it is time to come back.
