The lesson
You already know how to skip count by 3s, 4s, and 8s. Times tables use that same counting, but faster: instead of counting up in your head, you just remember the answer, like 3 x 6 = 18.
Priya has 32 pencils to share into 4 equal boxes. She remembers 4 x 8 = 32, so she knows right away that each box gets 8 pencils, with no counting needed.
Every times table fact hides a division fact inside it. If you know 8 x 6 = 48, you also know 48 divided by 8 = 6 and 48 divided by 6 = 8.
