The lesson
Weather can be hard on people and towns. Heavy rain can flood streets and homes. Strong wind can tear off roofs. Very hot or very cold days can make people sick. These are called weather hazards, and engineers design things to lower the damage they cause.
A river town floods almost every spring. The rising water damages houses, floods roads, and forces families to leave for a while. The town needs a plan that actually works, not just any plan.
There is rarely just one fix. A levee is a wall built along a river to hold back rising water. Better drainage carries rainwater away fast so it cannot pile up in the streets. Planting trees near the river helps soak up extra water too. Each solution helps in a different way.
To make a strong claim, compare solutions with real evidence, like how much water each one blocks, how much it costs, and how fast it can be built. Then say which one you think works best, and explain why using that evidence.
